Accountability: a strong corporate principle of the ALBA Group
The concept of sustainability has taken on greater meaning in the business context in recent years. While many companies are socially and environmentally engaged mainly out of business interests, away from all the media hubbub, ALBA has been supporting the Verein KINDerLEBEN (children with cancer) for over 13 years. It has been sponsoring the ALBA BERLIN basketball team since the time the club had only 500 spectators.
Sustainability as a business model
On the issue of sustainability and environmental protection, the ALBA Group, with its comprehensive range of services in the areas of resource material recovery and raw material processing can claim a place among the leading environmental services companies.

By the end of the 1960s, ABLA had already recognised the potential of recycling and set itself the goal of returning as many recyclables as possible to the production cycle. In order to do this, ALBA invested in the latest technology, and it paid off. Today, the ALBA group processes over seven million tons of secondary resources a year, turning over these goods to industry for use in new manufacturing. The economic benefit: the high cost of importing expensive raw materials can be avoided.

In addition, the ALBA Group conserves resources through the production and use of secondary resources, which contributes significantly toprotecting the environment, as it reduces carbon dioxide emissions by a total of more than six million tons. Another benefit to our clients: on request, they can obtain verification in the form of a CO2 certificate. In this way, the ALBA group demonstrates that through the recovery and re-use of secondary resource materials, economic interests can be pursued in harmony with ecological goals such as environmental and climate protection.
At its request, the first comprehensive case study on CO2 reduction was done using the ALBA Group as an example of the use of primary and secondary resources.
Corporate social responsibility and public commitment

Supporting children is very big with the ALBA Group. As far back as 1997, ALBA and like-minded individuals founded the KINDerLEBEN – Verein zur Förderung der Klinik für krebskranke Kinder e.V. Berlin. Since 2001, it has sponsored a gala benefit for this association, which supports a Berlin clinic specialising in children with cancer. To date, this even has brought in donations totalling more than 1.5 million EUR. For its part, Interseroh has been sponsoring a home for children in Sülz, near Cologne, for many years. Not only is the company committed to this cause as a donor and summer festival sponsor, but its employees also contribute privately in the form of substantial financial and material donations, as well as voluntary activities. This social engagement was even rewarded by the city of Cologne with a citizenship award.

Not to be forgotten is that the focus on sustainable promotion of children and youth also plays a large role in the ALBA Group’s involvement in sports. Since 1991, ALBA has been the chief sponsor and namesake of the internationally acclaimed ALBA BERLIN basketball team. The company is especially involved in grooming young talent, and invests heavily in popular sports within the framework of the ALBA-Jugend-Konzept.
The ALBA Group will continue to maintain its model of sustainable business and management, with the goal of ecological, economic, and social resource security and a viable future for Germany.
